Pal Experiences is partnering with Take the Floor Dance Studio in Phoenix to offer a private, group Salsa lesson to First Place Transition Academy residents and friends with autism.
Students are learning about what to expect at a dance class by watching Take the Floor's Pal Video and using the new, mobile-friendly Pal Guide. Take the Floor is dedicated to providing dance lessons to students of all abilities, and they're very excited about this special event.
First Place is a one-of-a-kind residential living development for adults with autism and related disorders. This 56-unit property in central Phoenix is scheduled to open in Spring 2018, and several prospective residents are currently living at the First Place Transition Academy called 29 Palms, an affordable housing multigenerational apartment property.
Participants are engaged in learning activities designed to improve their functional skills, attain gainful employment and complete a certificate program in independent living skills and career development at GateWay Community College. Participants have paid work internships and are volunteering in the community. The Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center (SARRC) is a strategic partner and serves as the program operator, balancing clinical with practical.
